Republican United States Representative Majorie Taylor Greene denied a recent report linking her to the Jan.6 “Stop the Steal” rally preceding the Capitol Riot. Greene called the article “pathetic waste.”

Two organizers of the rally said Rolling stone that they spoke with Georgia MP Greene or someone in her office while planning the event. At the rally, former President Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to march to Capitol Hill in an attempt to reverse his 2020 election defeat. The ensuing protest resulted in a violent riot at the United States Capitol.

The report said rally organizers had been in contact with Greene’s congressional offices, fellow Republican representatives Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, Andy Biggs and Louie Gohmert.

Greene called the article’s allegations “ridiculous” and called the article itself “pathetic trash” in comments she made to right-wing media. The daily caller.

“They talk about their sources and their sources and cite sources, but don’t give names, which reminds me of all the Russian collusion lie and the kind of language that [Democratic Representative] Adam Schiff uses it when he talks about sources, ”she told the publication.

“The whole thing is their same playbook,” Greene continued. “Make up a story, publish it, then all the other outlets flush and start over.”

In the past, Greene has accepted the baseless claim that an unprecedented national conspiracy of voter fraud “stole” the 2020 election from Trump.

“As a longtime Georgian, I don’t think Georgia voted for Joe Biden,” Greene said during an appearance on Newsmax TV a few weeks after the 2020 election. “I firmly believe that we have elected or re-elected President Trump. “

Biden narrowly won Georgia by a margin of 11,779 votes.

Greene urged efforts to re-examine the 2020 election for evidence of fraud. Earlier this year, she launched an “America First” tour from Mesa, Ariz., Saying ballot audits would prove Trump right.

“We know what people want,” she said during one of the tour stops in May. “The people overwhelmingly support President Trump as leader of the Republican Party. “

At the January 6 rally, Trump addressed a crowd of thousands of supporters. In his speech, Trump incorrectly said that if Vice President Mike Pence simply refused to certify the results of the congressional election, that would make Trump the president. Trump also told the crowd, “If you don’t fight like hell, you won’t have a country.”

The crowd marched to the Capitol, then started a protest that turned into an insurgent riot.

Five people died in the uprising and around 140 police officers were injured. Police injuries include a broken spine, lost eye, lost fingers, brain damage, and multiple cases of PTSD. Two Capitol Police officers have died by suicide since the insurgency.

During the ransacking of the Capitol, rioters smashed windows trying to gain access to the chambers of Congress, spread excrement in the hallway and stole computer equipment, potentially constituting a violation of national security.

In Greene’s earlier social media comments, she has argued for violence against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama, said a plane had never hit the Pentagon during the September 11 terrorist attacks, accused former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of slicing a child’s face and carrying it, and many other conspiracy theories.

News week contacted Greene’s office for comment.
