Woodley Town Council is launching a Platinum Jubilee Stone Painting competition – and the prize will make the winners feel like royalty

THE winner of a new contest will be treated like royalty during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend.

Woodley City Council is offering the opportunity for people to have lunch with the Mayor of the Town of Woodley and other dignitaries as part of its Big Jubilee Lunch event in the town centre.

Taking place on Sunday, June 5, between noon and 4 p.m., the event will include street entertainment, activities, a petting zoo, and free ice cream, among other treats.

And the crown jewel will be the street party with an upscale tabletop experience.

For a chance to win, children 12 and under are invited to decorate stones on the theme of the jubilee. It could be crowns, flags, castles, queens and even coins. Every stone should be bright and beautiful, and the entrances will form part of the City Council’s Jubilee Memorial Memorial in Woodford Park.

Schools received stones and entry forms, but the competition is open to any child under 12 who lives in Woodley or attends a school in Woodley.

There are three categories: 5 years old and under, 6 to 8 years old and 9 to 12 years old.

All entries must be submitted in a clear bag, which will be recycled by Friday, May 20, with winning entries being announced shortly thereafter.
